Belladonna, commonly known as deadly nightshade, is a toxic perennial herbaceous plant in the nightshade family Solanaceae. Belladonna acts upon every part of the nervous system, producing active congestion, furious excitement, perverted special senses, twitching, convulsions, and pain. It has a marked action on the vascular system, skin, and glands. Belladonna is always associated with hot, red skin, flushed face, glaring eyes, throbbing carotids, excited mental state, hyperaesthesia of all senses, delirium, restless sleep, convulsive movements, dryness of mouth and throat with aversion to water,?neuralgic pains?that come and go suddenly (Oxytropis).?

Belladonna can be helpful in the following conditions:
- Acute Fever & Pain:
- Sudden onset of high fever, hypersensitivity in all senses.
- Hot, flushed, dry face, bright eyes, dilated pupils.
- Sore Throat & Dry Cough:
- Constricted, dry, burning throat, tender neck, red, swollen tonsils (often on the right side).
- Painful, racking cough, fever.
- Headache & Migraine:
- Violent, throbbing pain, often starting at the back of the head and radiating to the right eyebrow area and behind the eye.
- Severe throbbing, rush of blood towards the head.
- Menstrual Pain:
- Heavy and painful menstrual flow.
- Blood is hot, bright red with clots.
- Abscesses and Boils:
- Acute abscesses, rapid pus formation.
- Mammary, hepatic, or glandular abscesses.
- Apoplexy:
- Unconsciousness, rush of blood towards the head.
- Bladder and Urethra:
- Haematuria without identifiable pathology, weakness of the bladder.
- Shooting pains extending to the bladder, with heat and distension.
- Cold, Catarrh and Coryza:
- Pain in throat, red face, the rush of blood towards the head.
- Dry cough at night, face turning red with head congestion.

- Sudden onset and cessation of pain.
- Gallstone colic, intense swelling, and pain in the abdomen.
- Conjunctivitis:
- Fiery redness, pain, and inflammation of eyes.

- Convulsions:
- Hot, red skin, flushed face, glaring eyes.
- Dentition:
- Convulsions during teething, followed by sleep.
